Shakuntala Devi: Vidya Balan Opens On Up Her Similarities With The Math Genius, ‘Unki Tarah Zindagi Ke Har Lamhe Ka Luft Uthana Chahti Hoon’ – EXCLUSIVE

The very versatile Vidya Balan is all set to showcase the life of human calculator Shakuntala Devi on the celluloid and she's quite pumped up about it. Not just the trailer of Shakuntala Devi has opened to rave reviews, but Vidya's spectacular portrayal of the math genius, too, has garnered an immense amount of buzz and anticipation. Ahead of the film's grand OTT premiere, Vidya Balan sat with us for an exclusive chat and during the same; she shared her excitement on the film. Vidya also opened up on the kind of similarities she shares with the iconic math genius.
Vidya Balan will be seen sporting different looks ranging from a 20 years old Shakuntala to in her 60s. Upon being asked about wearing ponytails, she said, "That's Shakuntala Devi for you. That's just one of the looks I'm sporting as Shakuntala Devi because I'm playing her from her 20s into her 60s. So, you know, visually aapko woh change dikhaye de isiliye humne alag alag hairstyles change kiye hai aur ek mein do choti hai." Further, we also quizzed the actress about the kind of similarities she shares with Shakuntala Devi, to which, she said that while their emotional graphs are different, there's some kind of connection in terms of their personalities.
"Emotional graph is a bit different because, you know, she has a daughter and she has a very unique relationship with her. Actually, har maa-beti ke bich thodi nok jhok hoti hai, pyaar bhi hota hai and iski ki jhalki aapko Shakuntala ke life mein bhi nazar ayegi. But zyada tar kya dekha gaya hai ki aap genius ki baat karte hai toh unhe sirf genius ki tarah dekhte hai. Yaha pe, we are looking beneath, you know, to see or to explore the person that Shakuntala Devi was. So, I think, that part of her life and my life is not similar," says Vidya.

"We do have a few similarities, I think. Main bhi unki tarah zindagi ke har lamhe ka luft uthana chahti hoon. Main bahut hasti hoon, zor zor se hasti hoon aur sab mujhse yeh kehte hai. Aur hum dono ko numbers pasand hai. Halaki if you ask me, as much as Shakuntala Devi, I'll say, 'No, not even close. There's no comparison'," added the actress.
