First Day First Show: OK Jaanu Fails To Draw Crowds

Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor are coming back together with OK Jaanu, after the superhit Aashiqui 2 which released in 2013. This time too it is a romance, albeit a modern one revolving around two protagonists who do not believe in marriage.

The film’s music soared up the charts but how did the film do? Even though the popular suburban theatres that SpotboyE visited only registered 30-40% occupancy, the few moviegoers exiting the halls seemed to have enjoyed it.

While everyone gave a thumbs up to Aditya and Shraddha's onscreen chemistry, it was the soundtrack which had awed one and all. The audience sang praises of AR Rahman's compositions as well as the beautiful portrayal of Mumbai in the film.

OK Jaanu is the official Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil blockbuster OK Kanmani, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen. Interestingly, most of the aam janta in Mumbai knew about the original film- but hadn't seen it.

Aamir Khan's Dangal (2016) is still registering high footfalls, even three weeks after its release. If OK Jaanu doesn't pick up over the coming week with word-of-mouth publicity, Dangal might just eat into its final box-office collection.
