Begum Jaan Declines On Day 2, Collects A Mere Rs 3.50 Crore At The Box-Office
After registering a disappointing figure of Rs 3.94 crore on Day 1, Vidya Balan-starrer Begum Jaan dropped further on Day 2. The total collections of the film till now stand at Rs 7.44 crore
Things just went from bad to worse for Vidya
Balan-starrer Begum Jaan. The partition drama began on a dismal note and
collected Rs 3.94 crore on Day 1. Just when the makers thought that Day 2 will
prove to be a respite, the collections declined.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures a while back and wrote, “#BegumJaan declines on Day 2... Fri 3.94 cr, Sat 3.50 cr. Total: ₹ 7.44 cr. India biz (sic).”

He wrote, “Punjabi film #ManjeBistre continues
its VICTORY MARCH... Is UNSTOPPABLE... Fri 2.25 cr, Sat 2.18 cr. Total: ₹ 4.43
cr (sic).”

Coming back to Begum Jaan, SpotboyE.com film critic,
Khalid Mohamed gave the film 1 star and said, “Vidya Balan gives this
brothel drama set in the Partition era plenty of sincerity, but it’s a lost
cause full of Bollywood high drama and hysteria. Vidya Balan strives to do her
best, acting gutsily as is humanly possible. Snag is that her role permits her
to play it in one, tiresome note: loud, loud and louder. Her expressive eyes
are unnecessarily abetted by greyish contact lenses, plus the cosmeticised
knitted eyebrows don’t help any.”
Talking about the disappointing performance of the film,
Ravi Sibal, General Manager, PVR Juhu told us a couple of days ago, "The
footfall has been bad for the morning shows. Let's hope there is some good
word-of-mouth publicity for the film, which helps it grow through the week.
Simply put there is 'No Jaan In This Begum Jaan'."
Trade Analyst and Film distributor Akshaye Rathi said, "I can call Begum
Jaan a non-starrer. It's no Dabangg or Sultan that it will give you a huge
box-office opening. It will grow over the week on the good word-of-mouth it has
got. A 20-22% occupancy in the morning shows is good for such a release, and I
hope it will grow as the week progresses."

the film turn out to be.
