Panga And Street Dancer 3D Weekend Box-Office Collections: Movies Delight In Republic Day Holiday, Show Major Growth
Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill starrer Panga and Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Street Dancer 3D's collections spiraled over the weekend, thanks to the Republic Day national holiday falling on Sunday
Last Friday, two Bollywood films clashed at the box-office. Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, Richa Chadha and Neena Gupta, starrer Panga set up a clash with Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor led Street Dancer 3D. While both the films had a slow take off on Friday, they saw a slight growth on the weekend. Seems like Republic Day on Sunday has surely affected the growth of the films. On Friday, Panga earned Rs 2.70 crore followed by Rs 5.61 crore on Saturday. The film has now collected Rs 6.60 Crore on Sunday taking its total collections to Rs 14.91 Cr over the first weekend.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Panga fares below expectations, despite glowing word of mouth... Biz escalated on Day 2, but the jump was missing on Day 3 [#RepublicDay]... Needs to trend very strongly on weekdays for a firm footing... Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 5.61 cr, Sun 6.60 cr. Total: ₹ 14.91 cr. #India biz.” Tweeting about SD, he wrote, “#StreetDancer3D puts up a healthy total in its weekend... Saw an upswing on Day 3, aided by #RepublicDay holiday... On the other, Street Dancer 3D did well on Republic Day with collections of 16-17 crore nett, according to a report in Box-Office India. Varun Dhawan starrer collected Rs 10.26 cr on Friday, followed by Rs 13.21 crore on Day 2. With 16-17 cr nett on Day 3, the film has approximately collected Rs 40 cr.
