Deepika Padukone- She may be the highest paid actress and have a string of blockbusters to her credit, but Deepika Padukone never shies away from challenging roles. She got under the skin of her character for ‘Chhapaak’, with months of gruelling prep to step into the shoes of an acid attack survivor. The effort paid off as the superstar walked away with rave reviews, not just for her performance but the courage she showed in taking up a challenging role that most stars would shy away from.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui – The actor par excellence constantly proves that he can undertake just about any role thrown his way. Nawazuddin Siddiqui had an immensely productive 2020, starting with the comedy-drama ‘Ghoomketu’, followed by the crime thriller ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ where the actor had audiences at the edge of their seats. Ending on a high note, Siddiqui, who has consistently delivered top-tier content for Netflix, headlined Sudhir Mishra’s satire, ‘Serious Men’ and not surprisingly walked away with immense praise.
Radhika Apte – Radhika Apte’s name always figures among the best performers of the year and she continues to cement her position as one of the country’s finest actors. While she stole the show in the crime thriller ‘Raat Akeli Hai’, she also marked her directorial debut this year with ‘The Sleepwalkers’ that’s making ripples internationally.
Abhishek Banerjee – The actor had double reason to celebrate with the success of ‘Paatal Lok’ as he took on the roles of both an actor and the casting director for the popular show. His intense portrayal of Hathoda Tyagi in ‘Paatal Lok’ blew fans away and was among the most celebrated performances this year.
Pankaj Tripathi – What a year it has been for Pankaj Tripathi! The immensely talented actor was part of some of the most popular films this year - Angrezi Medium, Gunjan Saxena, and Ludo, all of which saw him in versatile roles. Pankaj Tripathi was also praised for his gritty performance in Mirzapur 2.
Rajkummar Rao – Starring in ‘Ludo’ and ‘Chhalaang’, the award-winning actor didn’t disappoint audiences and delivered some fine performances this year.
Pratik Gandhi - Known for being a popular name in Gujarati theatre, Pratik Gandhi made a flawless transition into Harshad Mehta for 'Scam 1992'. The actor was widely praised for his portrayal of the infamous stockbroker, becoming a breakout artist in 2020.
