8 Actors Who Have Refused To Be On The Koffee Couch With Karan Johar

Despite appearing on Koffee With Karan in the second season, Katrina Kaif has politely declined Karan’s offer of coming back to the show. Let’s take a look at other stars who have turned down the offer of gracing the controversial Koffee couch

Yesterday we told you that Katrina Kaif has refused to appear on ‘good friend’ Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan (Katrina Kaif Refuses To Have Koffee With Good Friend Karan Johar, Nov 15) despite the two being on great terms for a while now. Grapevine suggests, Katrina feared that the show's host will eventually ask her the dreaded question -- the reason behind her headline grabbing break-up with Ranbir Kapoor and needless to say, wasn’t comfortable elaborating on the subject.

The last time we saw Katrina get up, close and personal on the show was in season 2 in which she shared the couch with Lara Dutta.

Katrina is not the first celebrity who has ‘politely declined’ being part of the show. Let’s take a look at the others who have taken the same route.

Anushka Sharma

Even since Anushka made her B-Town debut with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008, she has been a part of the subsequent Koffee seasons. In season 3, she graced the Koffee couch with Ranveer Singh and season 4 saw Anurag Kashyap as his partner. Both episodes gave enough fodder to gossip mills. However, when Karan contacted Anushka for this season, she graciously refused. Reason? It's said that she didn't want to talk about her relationship with Virat Kohli on national television.

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna

Akshay's wife Twinkle Khanna and Karan Johar are childhood buddies. Needless to say, Twinkle and Akshay were on the host’s priority list. However, the duo kept refusing to be a part of the show for the longest time. After a lot of coaxing, Akshay did finally come on the show in season 4. During the chat, he justified his refusal to come on the show by saying, "Every time someone comes on your show Karan, the next few days there are just calling up other people and clarifying that they didn't mean to say what they said on the show. I don't want to have such controversies in my daily life, and that's why I never came to your show."

Akshay also said that Twinkle was supposed to come for the show, but she backed out at the last moment saying that she wouldn't be able to hold herself back, and might say something inappropriate on national television. Finally, Karan managed to get the couple together on the show this season, and we all know what sort of hilarity ensued. Karan ended up the show saying, "I don't know why I have dug this grave for myself by calling you guys on the show tonight."

Juhi Chawla

Karan was persuading Juhi Chawla to grace the Koffee couch right from the beginning. However, it was only in the fourth season that she came on the show alongside Madhuri Dixit Nene. The moment she made an entry she teased Karan by saying that he didn’t invite her for the preceding seasons, an allegation he obviously denied saying that Juhi had reservations about her partner on the show.

Salman Khan

Despite being spoken about from the first season, Salman Khan finally appeared on the show in season 4 and what an episode that was. Salman handled Karan’s volley of questions in his characteristic ‘laid back’ attitude and won our hearts. Remember, ‘I am still a virgin’ comment? The episode was also memorable because Salman’s father Salim Khan came in the later segment to reveal a number of details about the actor’s life.

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan graced the Koffee couch with wife Kiran Rao and we still can’t get over their adorable chemistry. We saw the ‘not-so-reserved’ side of the actor.

Shah Rukh Khan

The fourth season was the only season where Shah Rukh did not make an appearance. Industry was abuzz with reports that he wasn't pleased with the fact that Karan preferred Salman Khan for the first show of the season, and SRK didn't want to come for any of the subsequent episodes, which are said to gain lesser eyeballs than the opening show.
