life gangsters. The latest example of the same is Arjun Rampal’s upcoming flick
Daddy which has been generating a lot of curiosity. The film is based on
gangster- turned -politician Arun Gawli and is set to release on Sept 8.

Starring Kangana Ranaut, Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja, Gangster (2006) was loosely based on the life of Abu Salem and former actress Monica Bedi. Kangana Ranaut received many accolades for the film and her acting was widely appreciated by the audiences.
Shootout At Wadala

Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Shootout At Wadala (2013) was based on the life of gangster Manya Surve. The role of the criminal, Manya Surve was essayed by John Abraham and had Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee and Sonu Sood in supporting roles. The film was a hit at the box-office.
Black Friday Poster
Based on Hussain Zaidi’s Black Friday (2007), the docu drama showed how Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon planned and executed serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993. Black Friday was directed by Anurag Kashyap but never released on the big screen as it didn’t receive censor clearance.
Loosely based on the fallout between Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Rajan, Company (2002) starred Vivek Oberoi, Ajay Devgn, and Antara Mali in pivotal roles. Directed by Ram Gopal Verma, the film nicely portrays the rift between the two gangsters after the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi impressed the audiences and critics alike with their performance.

Directed by Milan Luthria, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (2010), was based on the fallout between Haji Mastan and his disciple Dawood Ibrahim. The film revolves around the era of 1960s-70’s when Haji Mastan was very active and was known as an eminent smuggler. Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi who essayed the role of Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim respectively, awed the audiences with their stupendous performances.
