AR Rahman is one of the most popular and brilliant music composers, who has won over people’s hearts with his timeless music compositions. Trends in music keep changing, but AR Rahman’s versatile music still appeals to the people and the magic of his music remains blissfully timeless. The musician is not only known for his excellency in what he does, but he is also appreciated for his humility despite all the success and fame. His film music career began with the Tamil film Roja that released in 1992 and since then, there has been no looking back for AR Rahman.

AR Rahman is not just a revered musician in India, but is also well-known globally, having won a number of laurels including two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe. Besides these, the music legend has also won a BAFTA Award, six National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards, seventeen Filmfare Awards South and the Padma Bhushan, which he was honored with, in 2010. This song from Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Tamasha perfectly captures the feeling of heartbreak and is relatable to many. The film released in 2015, and one of the things that makes this movie memorable, has to be this song sung by Alka Yagnik and Arijit Singh.

Chaiyya Chaiyya- Dil Se

The entire soundtrack of the film Dil Se was a memorable one, however, if we had to choose one, this song Chaiyya Chaiyya starring Malaika Arora and Shah Rukh Khan tops the list. Right from the composition by AR Rahman, to its lyrics by Gulzar, vocals by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi, and the dance on top of the train by Malaika and SRK- everything about this song is iconic.

Jai Ho- Slumdog Millionaire

This upbeat song from Slumdog Millionaire won an Oscar for the Best Original song, and has been picturized on Freida Pinto and Dev Patel. Composed by AR Rahman, it has also been sung by A R Rahman, Sukhwinder Singh, Tanvi, Mahalakshmi Iyer and Vijay Prakash.

Luka Chupi- Rang De Basanti

This song is one of the most heart-touching and honest songs to date, sung by veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar and AR Rahman himself!   

Khalbali- Rang De Basanti

Yet another track from Rang De Basanti, this song resonated with the youngsters and the beats and music of the song stayed with us for a long time.

Maa Tujhe Salaam- Vande Mataram (Album)

This beautiful patriotic song, sung and composed by AR Rahman induces goosebumps every time it is played.

Tere Bina- Guru

This heart-warming song from Mani Ratnam’s film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai is one you can’t listen to only once.  The song has been sung by AR Rahman, Murtuza Khan, Quadir Khan and Chinmayi and the lyrics have been penned by Gulzar. 

Kahi Toh- Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

This love ballad deserves to be heard on loop! We can never get enough of this song captivating and mesmerizing song sung by Rashid Ali and Vasundhara Das will bring back the feeling of falling in love.

Kun Faya- Rockstar

This soulful song was simply magical and it is astounding how the mixture of a few musical instruments and the beautiful vocals could create something so divine and beautiful.

Highway- Maahi Ve

While the entire soundtrack of Highway was one that cannot be missed, the simplicity of this one tugged at our heartstrings.
