Actress Lara Dutta celebrates her 41st birthday today. So, on this special day, let’s rewind on her journey in films and her marriage to ace tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi.

It all began in the year 2000 for the dusky beauty when she was crowned as the Miss Universe. Lara became the second woman from India to win the coveted title. Post her big win, the actress started receiving film offers and in 2003, she marked her debut opposite Akshay Kumar in Andaaz which won her a Filmfare award for Best Debut.


Post her impressive debut, Lara played some key characters in films like Masti, Kaal, No Entry, Partner, Housefull, Don 2 and Singh Is Bliing. The actress earned critical acclaim for performances in movies like Billu, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Chalo Dilli and David.


Apart from her filmy career, Dutta is involved in various social causes. The actress was appointed as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador in 2001. She launched her own DVD that consists of prenatal routines and meditation techniques.


In September 2010, Lara got engaged to Indian tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi and the couple tied the knot on February 16, 2011 in a civil ceremony in Bandra. Then, in January 2012, the actress was blessed with a baby girl and the couple named her Saira. Lara was last seen on the big screen in the movie Welcome To New York in the role of Sophia.
