Kalyanji-Anandji, who had composed music for films like Saraswatichandra, Kora Kagaz, Don and many more, are still remembered for their timeless classics. On the occasion of Kalyanji’s 88t h birth anniversary, brings you the top 10 songs composed by the duo.

Apni Toh Jaise Taise (Laawaris)

This peppy number, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, is one of the best tracks composed by the duo. Crooned by Kishore Kumar and penned by Prakash Mehra, the heavy beats of the song still get us grooving.

Yeh Mera Dil (Don)

When Kalyanji-Anandji composed this ditty, little did they think that, decades later, it would be an inspiration for Black Eyed Peas. Yeh Mera Dil, crooned sensuously by Asha Bhosle, was rumouredly the inspiration behind Don’t Phunk With My Heart, which even won Black Eyed Peas a Grammy Award.

Chandan Sa Badan (Saraswatichandra)

Featuring Nutan and Manish, Chandan Sa Badan is one of the most melodious tracks of its time. Crooned by Mukesh and penned by Indeevar, the song even won Kalyanji-Anandji a Filmfare Award.  

O Saathi Re (Muqaddar Ka Sikandar)

One listen to this and you’ll be flooded with memories of your lost love. Kishore Kumar’s heart-wrenching rendition of this song even won him the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer. Of course, Amitabh Bachchan’s presence added to the beauty of the song.

Mera Jeevan Kora Kagaz (Kora Kagaz)

Many say that this song is one of the finest works of Kalyaji-Anandji. While lyricist MG Hashmat’s thoughtful lyrics are the track’s high point, Kishore Kumar’s voice weaves magic.

Zindagi Ka Safar (Safar)

Lyricist Indeevar beautifully captures the philosophy of life and the soul-stirring melody is sung by Kishore Kumaar. 

Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Blackmail)

When you’re in a romantic mood, this one is a must-listen. Kishore Kumar’s soft vocals, Rajinder Krishan’s lyrics and above all, the simple melody of Kalyanji-Anandji come together to make this one of the most romantic tracks of all time.

Dum Dum Diga Diga (Chhalia)

A feel-good song at its best! Foot-tapping and extremely peppy, this song will bring a smile to your face every time you hear it.

Yeh Sama (Jab Jab Phool Khile)

Shot in the picturesque location of Kashmir, the romantic track was filmed on Nanda and Shashi Kapoor. Lyricist Anand Bakshi, gained a lot of popularity post the success of the film. The song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Khaike Paan Banaraswala (Don)

Another track from Don and another chartbuster at that. Amitabh Bachchan livens up the song with his antics
