Sardar Ka Grandson, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, Bhool Bhulaiya 2 And More; 5 Upcoming Films That Will Chase Your Blues Away
We really need laughter in our lives during the ongoing pandemic. Though the tense dramas are welcome, here are the forthcoming light-hearted films that will tickle your funnybones.

Sardar Ka  Grandson: Kashvie Nair makes her directorial debut with this warm inviting family tale of a grandmother Neena Gupta and her grandson Arjun Kapoor plotting and planning to bring Lahore into Amritsar. Sounds outrageous? This family comedy with a large ensemble cast of outstanding comic actors will have you smiling chuckling and sometimes wiping a tear when it premiers on Netflix on May 13.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui: Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor in a  rom-com set in Chandigarh promise to liven up our lives with loads of laughter. Abhishek Kapoor who earlier directed the cult hit Kai Po Che abandons his sombre tone from his recent films to have himself a wild time. Abhishek says he is never enjoyed himself more making any other film. If laughter is the best medicine this one is the Covid vaccine.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar: Gujarati humour transposed into Bollywood with  Ranveer Singh playing a  Gujju for the first time. Sounds like a laugh riot? It is. Those who have seen rushes say Ranveer’s comic timing has never been so well tapped. He plays a man who gets bogged down by the gender equation every time he tries to prove women are equal to men. Directed by Divyang Thakkar, a well-known director in  Gujarati cinema, this  Yash Raj film will release on 27 August in theatres only. (Yashraj won’t bite the digital bait).

Bhoot Police:  The comedy-horror genre gets its frisky fillip from director Pavan  Kriplani’s Stree-Meets-Roohi scare-farce.  Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Yami Gautam and Javed Jaffrey come together for what Saif describes as one of the funniest films he has ever done. To release in theatres on 10 September.

Bhool Bhulaiya 2: Funnier than the first  Bhool Bhulaiya, the sequel according to director Anees Bazmi is absolutely wild. This is kuch-bhi-ho-sakta-hai territory. The laughter never stops. Kartik Aaryan’s comic timing already much-talked-about after Punchnaama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and  Luka Chuppi here reaches a crescendo of comicality.  In his laughter-filled company, even the prim and proper Tabu lets her hair down. Release date to be announced. But expected at the end of the year.
