"After Queen, I Wanted To Make A Masala Film"
The trailer of Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar is a whole lotta fun. Of course, many felt that the Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer lacks the innocence and charm of the director's earlier winner, Queen.

You know us, we didn't waste a moment to grill the director about it. And Vikas was just as forthcoming. He said, "After Queen, I wanted to make an out-and-out entertainer (He means like a 100-cr blockbuster, indie cool be damned). And that's exactly what Shaandaar is. It is a big starry wedding, there is a lot of song, dance and masala!"

So is he not worried about the baggage of expectations and as a filmmaker, shouldn't he be living up to it? Simply put, he gets to make a Shaandaar only and only because Queen worked in an unexpectedly big way, no? "I'm not burdened by any expectations. I made Queen and now I'm having fun with a fun-filled film. I'm sure the audience will like Shaandaar too," he said.
