'He Is Like My Father': Salman Khan Gets Emotional Speaking About Dharmendra, Calling Him His Biggest Fitness Inspiration
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has revealed that veteran actor Dharmendra remains his greatest inspiration when it comes to fitness, describing him as being like a father figure. The comments came during a media interaction ahead of his “Da-Bangg Tour” in Qatar, where Salman was asked about the fitness photos from his 1990s gym days that many young fans still keep for motivation. He responded by saying that he has always looked up to Dharmendra.
In a heartfelt moment captured on video, Salman said, “Before me, there was only one man, Dharam ji. He is like my father. I love him, and I just hope he comes back.” In the clip shared by an influencer, the emotional tone was clear as Salman expressed deep admiration for Dharmendra.
Back in the day, Dharmendra had also opened up about his fondness for Salman. On appearing as a special guest on one season of Bigg Boss, he remarked, “Salman is my son. I have three sons — all three are emotional, strong-willed, and straightforward.” He then added with a smile, referencing Salman, “But he takes after me a little more. He has a colourful personality and, like me, he loves to dance.”
Currently aged 89, Dharmendra is undergoing treatment at his Mumbai residence after being hospitalised for a week at Breach Candy Hospital. Salman was reportedly the first to visit him. Meanwhile, at age 59, Salman himself continues to be regarded as one of Bollywood’s fittest actors, frequently sharing workout videos and images on social media.
For his part, Salman is heading into the Qatar leg of his Da-Bangg Tour (scheduled for 14 November at the Asian Town Amphitheatre), and is also occupied with his upcoming film Battle of Galwan.
