‘Kangana Ranaut Should Have Been More Vigilant’ Says Bombay High Court; Refuses Urgent Hearing Of Actress’ Plea For Passport Renewal
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who had been booked by the Bandra Police on sedition charges, approached the Bombay High Court saying that her application for passport renewal was rejected due to a case registered against her. She sought directions to authorities to renew her passport, which expires in September, as she needs to go to Hungary for the shooting of a film. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the Bombay High Court refused an urgent hearing of Kangana’s plea.

The court said that the application was vague, and that Kangana was not vigilante enough to mention all details, and that she also didn’t include the authorities as a party. India Today quoted the Bombay High Court saying, "She should have been more vigilant. If there was urgency, she would have approached you with all the details. Your application is vague.”  A bench of justices Prasanna Varale and Surendra Tavade asked Kangana’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui to present the refusal order, however, Siddiqui said that the rejection was verbal, and that the objection wasn’t raised in writing.

Siddiquee said that they were verbally told that her passport will not be renewed because an FIR is registered against her. The FIR was reportedly filed against Kangana and her sister Rangoli Chandel in October 2020.

The Bombay High Court has allowed Kangana Ranaut to amend her application and has given the date for the next hearing on June 25.  When Kangana’s lawyer sought an earlier date for hearing, the court said that Kangana’s schedule could be adjusted as it was only a film shoot, reports Hindustan Times.
