15 Years Of Omkara: Vivek Oberoi Recalls His Memories Of Shooting The Beedi Jalaile Song; says ‘It Was Magical How That Song Came About’
Actor Vivek Anand Oberoi has been a part of numerous iconic songs in his career. However, one of the most cult songs of his career has to be the Beedi Jalaile song from Omkara. The song is played even today at most of the parties and wedding parties. Now, on the movie’s 15th anniversary, the actor opens up about how it was to shoot the song back then. ‘It was magical how that song came about. Vishal Bhai wanted to create a song for a special moment in the movie,’ he says.

“He went to Gulzar Saab and told him to write the lyrics. Vishal bhai’s brief was that he wanted a ‘hit song’. Not only should it be a good song, but it should be also a hit song. Instantly Gulzar Saab came up with the lines, and everyone responded saying that we had a winner at hand,” says Vivek Anand Oberoi recalling the time when the song was being conceptualised. Vivek Anand Oberoi recalls that the song was shot at Wai where an entire set was built up just to look like an interior township of a small town in Uttar Pradesh.

“It was a cold evening and we shot through the night. It was the first time when I saw that when the song played everyone was up on their feet dancing and swaying to the beats of the song. Ganesh Acharya was there choreographing the song. Bipasha (Basu), Saif (Ali Khan), Deepak Dobriyal, and I were dancing in the song. And whenever that song played, not just us, literally everybody would start moving. It was freezing cold and the middle of the night, and despite all that the song just made everyone dance their hearts out. Everybody would dance no matter how tired or how cold they were. That was something quite special to see,” concludes Vivek.

As they say, when you’re having fun while shooting it, audiences would have fun while watching it. And Beedi Jalaile from Omkara was exactly that. ALSO READ: Inside Edge Season 3: Vivek Oberoi Richa Chaddha Sayani Gupta's Sports Drama To Premiere Soon On Amazon Prime Video, Confirms Makers
