Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan has created a huge impact on society with his philanthropic works. From founding the NGO Paani Foundation with his ex-wives Kiran Rao and Reena Dutt to hosting a powerful show like Satyamev Jayate, he has always openly spoken up about the improvements needed in society’s mindset. Recently, a political advertisement went viral, where he was seen endorsing a particular political party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Hours after his team issued a statement and dismissed the advertisement as fake, Khan has now filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the purported video.

As reported by the Free Press Journal, the 59-year-old actor filed the FIR with the Cyber Crime cell of the Mumbai Police. In the statement released by his team on Tuesday, they claimed that the video was fake and that he has never promoted any specific party and he has always supported the Election Commission in its endeavours. A part of the statement read, “We want to clarify that Mr Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. In the now-viral video, which the netizens have shared extensively on social media, the Laaptaa Ladies producer is seen taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political party Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) for promoting a ‘15 lakh’ scheme. As per the video, the government promised Rs 15 lakh in every individual’s bank account. He is heard saying, “Jumle walon se saavdhaan rahe.” The Cyber Crime Cell has yet to take any action on the internet users who have made and shared the doctored video. On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. An official remake of Tom Hank starrer Forrest Gump, the movie failed to impress the audience. He will be making his much-awaited comeback with Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to Taare Zameen Par. If reports are to be believed, the movie will be focusing on Down Syndrome.
