Aamir Khan Pays His Last Tribute To His Lagaan Costume Designer Bhanu Athaiya
Yesterday came news of India’s first Oscar-winning costume designer Bhanu Athaiya breathing her last in Mumbai. The news was confirmed by her daughter Radhika Gupta, who stated that her mother had tumour and was battling against it for the last eight years.  As soon as the news broke, many paid their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.  Perfectionist Aamir Khan too taking to his Twitter account paid his last tribute to the veteran designer, with whom he had collaborated for one of his most successful ventures, Lagaan. 

As he paid his last tribute to the departed soul, he spoke about the late designer being a gem of a person who had the ability to accurately translate a director's vision on the silver screen. He spoke about Bhanu Athaiya being thorough with her research and her talent to weave it together as the film’s demand, ultimately meeting the director’s vision was simply amazing. On the concluding note he shared that she shall be missed and paid his condolences to the family as well.

The Lagaan actor tweeted, “Bhanuji was one of those film people who beautifully combined accurate research and cinematic flair to bring to life the director's vision. You will be missed Bhanuji. My heartfelt condolences to the family. a.” Check out his tweet below-

Her daughter told PTI, “She passed away early this morning. Eight years ago, she was diagnosed with a tumour in her brain. Bhanu Athaiya was cremated at Chandanwadi crematorium in South Mumbai.
