Aamir Khan Rubbishes Rumours That Claimed He DIVORCED Kiran Rao Due To Alleged Relationship: ‘There Was No One In My Life'
Aamir Khan in an interview has opened about his decision of partying ways with Kiran Rao
Last year in July, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao left their fans shocked after they announced their divorce on social media. The couple, who were together for 15 years, released a joint statement saying that "they both would like to begin a new chapter in their lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other". There were several reports that claimed the actor divorced Kiran because he was in a relationship with someone else. Now, in a recent interview, Aamir has opened up about his separation with Kiran and clarified that there was no one in his life back then and there is no one now.
While speaking to News18 India, the Dhoom 3 actor revealed that Kiran, several years ago had told him that she was simply not interested in his family. “She would tell me that even when we discuss something as a family, I’m always lost somewhere. She said I’m a different kind of person. She very sweetly said, ‘I don’t want you to change because if you change then you wouldn’t be the same person who I fell in love with.’ I’m in love with your brain and your personality. So, I would never want that you change. But today when I reflect on what Kiran told me seven years ago, I would say that I have seen a lot of changes in me in the past 6-7 months," he was quoted saying.
Talking about the trigger point for their divorce, Aamir explained that he and Kiran are families but their relationship of husband and wife experienced a certain change and they wanted to respect the institution of marriage. The actor also mentioned that they both will always be by each other’s side and will work together but they are no longer husband and wife and that’s why they decided to call it quits. When quizzed if his divorce with Kiran happened because of any other relationship, the Dangal actor refused and said, “No. There was no one back then, there is no one now." Post announcing their split, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have been spotted together on multiple occasions, which proves that they still share a cordial relationship with each other.
The estranged couple got married in December 2005 and welcomed their first son Azad Rao Khan through surrogacy in 2011. Aamir has a daughter Ira and a son Junaid from his first marriage with Reena Dutta.
