Abhay Deol Calls Out 'Woke' Indian Celebs For Their Selective Outrage; Actor Receives A Round Of Applause From Twitterverse
Today, Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara actor took to his Instagram feed and penned down a meaningful note on ‘woke’ Indian celebs and called out celebs for talking about black lives but not minorities, migrants and poor lives in India. He bashed celebs for this selective outrage. The note came after the moment Black Lives Matter protests once again started spreading in America and now across the globe. This moment came after the racial discrimination that the world saw with George Floyd’s brutal death. Abhay called out to the people for overlooking the injustice happening in India and shared a picture with the hashtags #MigrantLivesMatter, #MinorityLivesMatter, #PoorLivesMatter written on a piece of paper.

For those who are unaware of it, Abhay long note read, “Maybe it’s time for these now? Now that “woke” Indian celebrities and the middle class stand in solidarity with fighting systemic racism in America, perhaps they’d see how it manifests in their own backyard? America has exported violence to the world, they have made it a more dangerous place, it was but inevitable that it would come back karmically. I’m not saying they deserve it, I’m saying look at the picture in its totality. I’m saying support them by calling out the systemic problems in your own country because they turn out to be one and the same thing. I’m saying follow their lead but not their actions.

His note further read, “Create your own actions, your own movement, relevant to your own country. That is what the black lives matter movement is all about! In the larger picture, there is no “us” and “them”. There is not a country that’s real. But a planet in peril. #migrantlivesmatter #minoritylivesmatter #poorlivesmatter Black Lives Matter (find out why not to use the hashtag and still support the movement).”

After the note was uploaded on his account, the screenshot of it started circulating on Twitter and fans just couldn’t stop themselves from praising the actor for speaking the utmost truth, so much so that the actor is even trending on Twitter. Amongst one wrote, “Abhay Deol slams Indian celebs for talking about black lives but remaining mum on what’s happening to minorities and migrants in our own backyard!
