But before we take you through the most pivotal antagonist of the upcoming KGF sequel: Adheera, that is played by Sanjay Dutt (the first look of the same was released today), let us tell you about the real story that inspired KGF chapter 1. But first, a brief synopsis of KGF Chapter 1

KGF Chapter 1: The Story

Yash aka Raja Krishnappa Bairya urf Rocky is a power-hungry don, whose only goal in life is to die a wealthy and influential man, a promise he made to his mother on her deathbed. His quest for money and power brings him to Mumbai and consequently he joins the city's erstwhile famous gold mafia. This mafia sends him on a mission to kill KGF's (a secret and oppressive gold mining operation located in the South) heir-in-waiting Garuda which is played by Ramachandra Raju, he does successfully and rather impressively in KGF Chapter 1.

KGF: The Real Story

Well, in case people are unaware of the real story of KGF, here it is. Kolar Gold Fields is a mining region and taluk, in the Kolar District of Karnataka state, India. The movie is set in the 70s and is based on the real-life story of Thangam, a notorious rowdy sheeter from Kolar Gold Fields.

The year was 1871. Michael Fitzgerald Lavelle, a retired Irish soldier from the British Army, had made Bangalore cantonment his home. Retirement was a drag for Lavelle, who had just returned after fighting the Maori wars in New Zealand. Although he hoped to make it big post-retirement, Lavelle spent much of his time reading; and a four-page article from the 1804 Asiatic Journal he came across, set Lavelle on a journey that eventually birthed the world’s second deepest goldmine – the Kolar Gold Fields.

For British engineers and others from the across the globe, Kolar was ‘Little England’. Weather like England, bungalows and clubs made KGF an ideal home. Being a British mining colony, life in KGF was greatly influenced by British culture.

While 2018 movie ‘KGF’, touted as the biggest Kannada movie of the year, has built curiosity about this forgotten mining town, and India’s gold rush, the makers admit the movie isn’t a historical account but a work of fantasy. However, this pales in comparison to the real story of the Kolar Gold Fields.

Talking about Adheera, a few days ago, Hombale films unveiled the first look of a new character named Adheera in the film KGF 2. The teaser poster showed a pair of male hands held behind his back and a ring with a lion’s face on the finger worn by the man. The fans were left to wonder who would play the character of Adheera and according to some speculations, Sanjay Dutt was to play the role. The first look poster of Adheera was announced to be revealed on July 29, that is Sanjay Dutt’s birthday.
Apart from Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon will also be a part of the film and will play a pivotal role. In an IANS interview, actor Yash revealed that the pre-production work of KGF 2 had already begun a few months ago and that this project will be bigger and better than the first part.
