A recently released commercial featuring Ranveer Singh left many of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s fans upset and fuming in anger. The video features Ranveer talking about algorithms, photons and aliens in the advertisement in question which starts with people asking him ‘what’s the plan for the future’. The ad in the question, of Bingo, got SSR’s fans trending #BoycottBingo on Twitter. Ranveer also faced criticism for talking about algorithms, photons. Now, after the massive backlash that the brand and actor related to it faced, the brand spokesperson issued a statement.
The spokesperson from ITC Foods reacted to the online trolling. The spokesperson said, “A completely false, erroneous and mischievous message is being posted/circulated alleging that an advertisement of Bingo! is making fun of a late Bollywood celebrity. Such kind of erroneous messages are knowingly spreading falsehoods. We request you to not fall prey to such mischievous posts. The recent Bingo! The advertisement was shot more than a year ago in October 2019. It is being aired this year because of delay in the launch of Bingo! Mad Angles Cheese Nachos and Bingo! Mad Angles Pizza due to the Covid-19 pandemic”.
The spokesperson said that the message that the advertisement released by Bingo is making fun of a late Bollywood celebrity is ‘completely false, erroneous and mischievous’. The spokesperson requested everyone to not fall prey to the mischievous posts on social media. The statement mentioned that the commercial was shot more than a year back in October 2019 and was aired this year because of the delay in the launch.
Meanwhile, apart from the advertisement, actor Ranveer Singh also faced immense backlash from the users on social media. He was brutally trolled. The statement of the spokesperson has come after the #BoycottBingo trends on Twitter.
