Aishwarya Rai Bachchan And Sobhita Dhulipala Wrap Up Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan; Part 1 Eyeing For A Summer 2022 Release
The audience has been waiting for over three years for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to return to the big screen. She was last seen in Atul Manjrekar’s Fanney Khan, which also featured Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, in 2018. In the film, she portrayed the role of a singer named Baby Singh. There has since been a lot of curiosity around Aishwarya’s next project.

So naturally, when it was announced that the actress would reunite with her first director and mentor, Mani Ratnam for his dream project, the Tamil film Ponniyin Selvan, her fans were left excited about it.

A while ago, Aishwarya’s look was also leaked from the sets of the film where she was seen wearing a red saree with some heavy jewellery, looking as regal as ever.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has now wrapped up the shoot of the film. Usually, a bit inactive on social media, Aishwarya took to her Instagram to share a poster of the film, revealing that the film has been wrapped up and part 1 is now eyeing for a Summer 2022 release.

Aishwarya had started shooting for the magnum opus after the lockdown norms were eased across the country. The team first shot the film extensively in Puducherry before shifting to Hyderabad for the next schedule. Recently, Aishwarya also shot for an elaborate song in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh.

The actress reportedly plays a double role in the film, that of princess Nandini, and her mother, queen Mandakini Devi. Along with her, co-star Sobhita Dhulipala also wrapped up her shoot for the film - which will mark her debut in the Tamil industry. Sobhita, who is a trained classical dancer, has been roped in for a pivotal role of a princess and will be seen performing Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam in the film.

Ponniyin Selvan is an epic historical action-drama film and Mani Ratnam is directing, co-producing and has also co-written it. The filmmaker has been working on the film for about three decades. It is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel of the same name and boasts of an impressive ensemble cast that includes Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu and Sobhita. The film’s music is composed by the maestro himself, AR Rahman. The film is being made on a big-budget and will be released in two parts.
