Aishwarya Rai Bachchan On Her Next With Mani Ratnam: ‘Ponniyin Selvan Is Going To Be A HUGE Film’

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was last seen on the big screen in Fanney Khan, will now star in Mani Ratnam’s next directorial venture Ponniyin Selvan. While talking about working in this Tamil film in a recent interview, the actress revealed what it is like working with Mani Ratnam and that this film is going to be huge!

Fans of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have been eagerly waiting to see her on the big screen again. There have been reports of the actress bagging a meaty role in Mani Ratnam’s next Tamil venture titled Ponniyin Selvan and her fans are thrilled and also excited to know more details of this film. Aishwarya was last seen on the big screen in Atul Manjrekar’s 2018 film Fanney Khan, and before that, she had a special appearance in 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. So far, not much had been revealed about Ponniyin Selvan, and now the actress herself has talked about it.

In a recent interview with ZoomTV.com, while at the trailer launch of Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, Aishwarya Rai talked about working with Mani Ratnam once again in Ponniyin Selvan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said that she had committed to Mani Ratnam for this film very early on, this year. She said they both knew time would fly as she had some other commitments throughout the year. In the interview, she said that working with Mani Ratnam is like going back to school. She added, “He evokes that even in us. Further, talking about Ponniyin Selvan, she said, “It’s going to be a big one. Ponniyin Selvan is going to be a huge film that he’s gonna be embarking upon. At least that’s the way I see it.” Aishwarya further said that his vision would be something that even she would discover probably on day one at work because she doesn’t know how he is seeing it.


Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has collaborated with Mani Ratnam even earlier for several films including Guru and have churned out many hits. There are also reports suggesting that she will be seen in a double role in Ponniyin Selvan.
