Akshay Kumar Faces Netizens' Fury As Old Video Of Him Saying, “Toronto Is My Home” Goes Viral
Since Lok Sabha Election 2019 took place in Mumbai on April 29, Akshay Kumar has been continuously making headlines for not casting his vote. This has led to a lot of curiosity about his citizenship. At the special screening of Blank, when the Kesari actor was asked about not practising his right of voting, he had dodged the question and said “Chaliye Beta” to the reporter. After the screening video went viral, generating more speculations about his citizenship, Kumar, yesterday, took to social media and posted a long message about being a true Indian in spirits.

However, soon after he posted the clarification tweet, netizens dug out an old video of Khiladi Kumar where he is at an event in Canada and can be heard saying, “Toronto is my home” This video has now gone viral and Akshay is being again based by trolls for being a “fake nationalist” In the video, Akshay can be heard addressing a crowd and saying, "I must tell you one thing, 'This is my home. Toronto is my home.' After I retire from this industry, I'm going to come back here and stay here." Watch the video:

This has left netizens ruffled and many are tweeting against Akshay. Here are some of the comments by trolls:

Talking about Akshay’s clarification, yesterday, on the citizenship row, Khiladi Kumar had written, “I really don't understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that i hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal, non-political, and of no consequence to others. Lastly, I would like to continue contributing in my small way to the causes that I believe in and make India stronger and stronger.”
