Alia Bhatt And Ranveer Singh, Not Ranbir Kapoor And Deepika Padukone, To Feature In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Baiju Bawra’-Report
Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will reportedly be seen playing the leads in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious film ‘Baiju Bawra’.
Ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming project titled ‘Baiju Bawra’ has been making headlines owing to the casting of the film. Earlier, it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were roped in for the film. However, both the actors have reportedly opted out of it citing different reasons. Now, speculation is rife that Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt have been approached for Bhansali’s directorial.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Ranveer Singh was the first actor to be signed for Baiju Bawra. In fact, Ranveer was Bhansali's first choice. A source was quoted saying, “The character needs certain madness, a junoon that only Ranveer can project. Ranbir was never considered for the role.”
The report also stated that Alia, who is also a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, went berserk after reading the script of the movie. The actress also called it the "best script she has read till now.” Further, it is being said that Bhansali also feels that Alia "suited the part."
Both Ranveer and Alia will reportedly kick off Baiju Bawra’s shoot by October and a huge set is being prepared at Film City.
A few days ago, an Etimes report stated that Ranbir backed out of the project as he was not impressed with the script. He felt the movie has a ‘restricted appeal’.
Deepika, on the other hand, reportedly turned down ‘Baiju Bawra’ as she was denied equal pay as her husband Ranveer Singh. The report claimed that the actress was denied the amount and since she already has several big-ticket films in her lineup up she gave preference to them.
