Parineeti has been going through a lean phase work-wise. 2014 saw her in three films - Hasee Toh Phasee, Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil. Only Hasee Toh Phasee managed to bring some good news for Parineeti whereas the other two films were rejected by critics and audiences.

Now, compare this career graph to Alia’s. She had a great 2014 with the films - Highway, 2 States and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.
So shes surely doing something right. This is why Parineeti turned to her for career advice.
