The megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been bestowed with one of the highest film honours today. Entertaining the audience for 5 decades now, Sr. Bachchan was honoured at the 50th Dadasaheb Phalke Awards in New Delhi by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.  Accompanying him for this prestigious occasion was his wife Jaya Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan. It was in the month of September, when the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had made an official announcement of the legend being recognized with this honour.

He had tweeted, "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for Dada Sahab Phalke Award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him." Now a picture of the star being bestowed with this honour has been tweeted on the official twitter handle of Doordarshan National. Sharing the picture, they congratulated the actor and wrote, “BIG CONGRATULATIONS SIR!! While this happens to be 50th Dadasaheb Awards, it also marks to be Big B’s 50 years in the cinematic world. Just few days ago, the actor had to give a miss to the 66th National Film Award ceremony, owing to his health issues.

Big congratulations to the legendary star and we are definitely falling short of adjectives to praise him for selflessly entertaining and inspiring us for some many years.


Along with Amitabh Bachchan, yet another superstar of the gone by era late actor Rajesh Khanna was also remembered at this ceremony as 29th December marks his birth anniversary.

Honoured with 4 National Awards so far, the actor’s zeal to keep going has inspired many of his fans. After Badla and TV quiz show KBC, the actor has 3 movies in the pipeline such as Gulabo Sitabo, Chehre and Jhund.
