Amitabh Bachchan Recalls His Days In ICU After Coolie Accident, Reveals He Would Secretly Write To Jaya Bachchan In Broken Bengali
Amitabh Bachchan revealed in his blog how he communicated with his wife Jaya Bachchan in hospital post the Coolie mishap
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was once fatally injured during the shoot of Coolie and the accident had got his family and fans praying for his well being. Since then the actor’s fans and his son Abhishek Bachchan termed the day after he recovery from this injury as the second birthday. The actor who pens his blog on regular basis, mentioned about this very incident and revealed how he furtively communicated with his wife Jaya Bachchan in broken Bengali language when he was recovering in the hospital.
The actor recalled his days in ICU after the accident and mentioned having an instrument put in neck which made it difficult for the actor to talk, move, or even scribble words. Hence, the actor used to call for a piece of paper to write and convey this thoughts and asks for his requirement. In the blog he mentioned about writing in broken Bengali language when he had asked for sip of water from his wife Jaya Bachchan. In this blog piece he mentioned about his pain and irritation which happened to him back then.
He wrote in his blog, “the tracheostomy .. in those days the neck was cut and the life saving apparatus was inserted there .. the machine connected to it breathed for you .. you lost your voice till it was there .. if and when I was in a condition to say something, I had to either gesture or seek a paper to just about be able to write a few shaky scratchy words .. mostly surreptitiously to Jaya in broken Bengali, asking her to give me a sip of water - forbidden by the doctors .. so the nurses and doctors would not understand .. it never worked .. they would find out ..”
The actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in ICU located in Mumbai. Just for the less initiated ones, the actor was injured during an action sequence which also starred actor Punnet Issar, while the shooting of Coolie on July 26, 1982.
