Anurag Basu Reveals He Never Fought With Ranbir Kapoor On The Sets Of Jagga Jasoos; Says, 'We Could Have Finished A Year Before'
The musical adventure film, Jagga Jasoos, also starring actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, which was released in 2017 did not fare well at the box-office. Nevertheless, in a recent interview, Anurag Basu opened about Jagga Jasoos, the film's delay and Ranbir Kapoor. While talking to Mid-Day, filmmaker Anurag Basu revealed that he did not fight with Ranbir Kapoor on the sets neither the delay of the film extended the budget of the film. He even admitted that the film making took far too long which was scheduled to finish it off in a year. Basu mentioned that with Ranbir shooting and promoting his films and with music composer Pritam wanted to take time for the music, he didn't know where to balance which eventually delayed the project.

"Yeah, too long, actually," Basu admits. "We could have finished a year before. There is not a single thing I can pinpoint [for what went wrong]. Ranbir [the lead] was shooting and promoting four films [Besharam, Bombay Velvet, Roy, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil] during this time. I could have put my foot down and requested him not to. But then, Pritam also wanted time to make music. I didn't know where to balance. Even after all this time, we were rushing with post-production, five months before release!"

The filmmaker also revealed why he had to let go of veteran Govinda from Jagga Jasoos. According to him, there was a lot of uncertainty and confusion that led up to removing Govinda from the film. He said, "It was so unpredictable. I couldn't have taken that stress, yaar. We were shooting outdoor in South Africa, everything was lined up. I just had to [let go of him]."
