A few days ago, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was accused of sexual misconduct by actress Payal Ghosh. She leveled #MeToo allegations against him, claiming that Anurag Kashyap forced himself on her. Kashyap denied these allegations calling them baseless. Payal Ghosh then approached the Mumbai Police and filed an FIR against him, after which he was called in for interrogation today at Versova Police Station. Now, after about 8 hours of interrogation, Kashyap was seen leaving Versova Police Station.

This morning, Anurag Kashyap appeared before the police in connection with the alleged sexual assault against actor Payal Ghosh. He was quizzed over Payal Ghosh’s allegations and was questioned close to 8 hours at Versova Police Station. He can be seen exiting the police station, and making his way to the car. Meanwhile, after Anurag was summoned, Payal Ghosh had thanked Mumbai Police and had tweeted, “Thank you @MumbaiPolice... @anuragkashyap72 has been called tomorrow at versova police station for summoning and questioning. Let's hope justice prevails....!!”

Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap, in a statement by his lawyer Priyanka Khimani, stated that the allegations are completely false and malicious.


The statement read, “My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest. It is sad that a social movement as important as the #MeToo movement has been co-opted by vested interests and reduced to a mere tool for character assassination. Fictitious allegations of this nature seriously undermine the movement and seek to unconscionably trade upon the pain and trauma of the actual victims of sexual harassment and abuse. My client has been fully advised of his rights and remedies in law and intends to pursue them to the fullest extent."
