Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor has emerged as one of the year's major successes is also being in the headlines for its controversial nature. Sandeep Reddy Vanga's creation continues to break box office records while stirring a mixed response due to various elements, notably the portrayal of misogyny and the celebration of toxic masculinity. Recently, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, in an interview with OTT Play, shared his thoughts on Animal, acknowledging that the film has sparked valuable discussions on feminism, implying that it's doing something positive by initiating such conversations. In a conversation with OTT Play during the Kolkata International Film Festival, Anurag Kashyap addressed the response to Animal. He expressed the view that responsibility cannot be imposed on individuals; they either assume it or they don't. Kashyap highlighted the reality that only a few people actively seek out films considered truly feminist, distinguishing between genuine feminist narratives and those that might appear as such but aren't. He asserted that a movie like Animal has catalyzed more feminist conversations in the country than any other film, initiating heightened discussions about misogyny. In his opinion, this engagement signifies a positive impact and contribution from the film. Speakinng about this AK said, "How many people went and watched a film that you considered to be feminist? Only a handful of people watch them and underline if it was a real feminist film or a pseudo-feminist film. A film like Animal has galvanised more feminists in this country than any other feminist film. It has created more discussion around misogyny than any other film. So it is doing something good."

Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Animal also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles. The movie has raked Rs 717 crore worldwide.
