Awarapan 2 Box Office Day 5: Emraan Hashmi’s Sequel Storms Past ₹144 Crore Worldwide, Beats Alpha And Cocktail 2

Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 is turning into a major box-office success. The action-romance sequel has crossed ₹144 crore worldwide in just five days, surpassing the lifetime worldwide collections of recent Bollywood releases including Alpha and Cocktail 2.

Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited return as Shivam Pandit is proving to be a big hit with audiences. Awarapan 2, the sequel to the 2007 cult favourite, has maintained a strong hold at the box office even after its opening weekend. According to Hindustan Times, the film has now grossed ₹144 crore worldwide in five days and is rapidly moving towards the ₹150-crore milestone.

Awarapan 2 crosses ₹100 crore in India

The film had a strong start, backed by more than ₹8 crore in advance bookings. It went on to collect over ₹81 crore net during its opening weekend, equivalent to around ₹97 crore gross in India.

Its weekday performance has also remained steady. The film earned ₹9.25 crore on Monday and ₹9.75 crore on Tuesday, taking its five-day domestic collection to ₹100.75 crore net, or approximately ₹120 crore gross.

This milestone is particularly significant for Emraan Hashmi. Awarapan 2 has become the first Emraan Hashmi-led film to cross the ₹100-crore mark in India, making it the actor’s highest-grossing film to date.

The overseas market adds to the momentum

The film initially had a slower start internationally but picked up over the weekend. Awarapan 2 reportedly earned around $2 million overseas during the weekend, taking its international earnings to $2.5 million after five days.

The Middle East and North American markets have been among the key contributors to its overseas performance. With the domestic and international collections combined, the film has reached ₹144 crore worldwide.

Awarapan 2 overtakes Alpha and Cocktail 2

The film’s impressive run becomes even more notable when compared with other recent Bollywood releases.

In just five days, Awarapan 2 has surpassed the reported lifetime worldwide collections of Alpha, which stands at around ₹99 crore, and Cocktail 2, which has a reported lifetime worldwide gross of ₹143 crore.

The film is currently the sixth-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, with the potential to climb further if its theatrical momentum continues. It could challenge the collections of Welcome to the Jungle and Dhamaal 4 later in its run.

Emraan Hashmi’s biggest solo success

The success of Awarapan 2 marks a major turnaround in Emraan Hashmi’s box-office journey. Before this film, his biggest solo success was Raaz 3, which earned around ₹70 crore net in India and ₹100 crore worldwide, according to the report.

Nearly two decades after the original Awarapan, Hashmi’s return as Shivam Pandit has clearly connected with the audience, helping the sequel establish itself as his biggest solo hit yet.

What’s next for Awarapan 2?

With ₹144 crore worldwide in five days, Awarapan 2 is now eyeing an even bigger first-week total. Hindustan Times reports that a ₹170-crore worldwide first week looks highly likely if the film maintains its current pace.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the film brings back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit and also stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi and Suvinder Vicky.
