Badshah Reveals He Was Clinically Depressed, Opens Up On Suffering From Anxiety: ‘Mental Peace Is A Luxury For Me'
In a chat with Shilpa Shetty, Badshah opened up about his clinical depression and myths regarding mental fitness
Badshah is one of the most celebrated and famous singers that we have in Bollywood in recent times. Right from ‘DJ wale Babu’ to ‘Jugnu’, he had delivered innumerable hits party songs and enjoys a massive fan-following worldwide. Recently the rapper appeared on Shilpa Shetty’s fitness chat show, ‘Shape Of You’ wherein he opened up about his clinical depression and also shared some of his darkest secrets.
In a candid chat with Shilpa, the singer mentioned that there was a phase in his life, in order to look a certain way he starved himself which ultimately affected his health and made him lose his breath during live performances. The ‘Paani Paani’ singer admitted that to maintain one’s mental health, one has to be selfish. He added, "Mental fitness is my priority in life. Mental peace is a luxury for me because of the pressure that we face every day. I have been through the darkest times when it comes to my mental health. I have been through clinical depression, I have been through severe anxiety disorder so I know that I can’t go there again. And to not go there again, you have to be selfish in a good way." Further, Badshah mentioned that during that dark phase one thing he learned was to live with those people who make you happy. The rapper was quoted saying, "You have to live with people who make you happy, you have to learn to say no. You have to learn to say yes, you have to be happy, we live under a lot of pressure. We have made our own lives messy and then we complain we are not mentally fit. You need to organize things, keep your loved ones near you and that is it.”
Talking about his work front, Badshah is currently seen as a judge on ‘India’s Got Talent 9’ with Shilpa Shetty, Manoj Muntashir, and Kirron Kher.
