The Prabhas-Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush reportedly has yet another hurdle to overcome as the All India Cine Workers Association wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to "stop screening the movie and immediately order a ban of Adipurush screening in the theatres and OTT platforms in the future".

The latest development comes after Adipurush faced intense backlash from the audience and movie-buffs for multiple reasons after it was released in theatres on June 17, 2023. Amid all the controversy, even the internet has demanded a ban on the screening of Om Raut’s directorial. The film has been on the receiving end for its unsatisfactory acting, poor VFX, and cringe dialogues. Apart from that, a section of the audience have pointed out that the makers even sexualized the content of the much-anticipated film that narrates the epic mythological story of Ramayana, which had an alleged budget of around Rs 600 Crores.


Speaking of the letter issued by the All India Cine Workers Association, the members pointed out how they need FIR against director Om Raut, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla and the producers of the film.

A part of their letter read, “This movie’s screenplay and dialogues are clearly defaming the image of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. Adipurush's movie is hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and Sanatan Dharm. Prabhu Sri Ram is a god for everyone in India and no matter what religious faith one comes from, this movie depicts Lord Ram and even Raavan who looks like a character of a video game, with dialogues hurting every Indian in the country and across the globe. Actor Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan shouldn't have been part of such a disgraceful movie ever made in the history of Indian Cinema. Adipurush is a complete disaster of our faith in Shri Ram and Ramayan."

Amid a raging controversy over Adipurush, a group of people even staged a protest in Varanasi and tore posters of the film and the Hindu Mahasabha lodged a complaint with the Lucknow police against its makers on June 19. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has even joined the chorus against the film and claimed to be hurt by its "cheap and superficial dialogues" and that the film was part of an "agenda". Protesting against the film in Varanasi, activists of a Hindu outfit tore its posters and appealed to people not to watch it.
