Bollywood’s Favourite Chef Kelvin Cheung ARRESTED In Delhi For Allegedly Cheating Bastian Co-Owner Of USD 200K - REPORT
Celebrity chef Kelvin Cheung, who enjoys massive popularity among Bollywood stars, has been arrested by Mumbai Police this morning, according to a report in Pinkvilla.  A source informed Pinkvilla that Kelvin Cheung was arrested in Delhi and was brought by train from Delhi to Mumbai on Monday morning. After arriving in Mumbai he was taken to the Khar Police Station after which he will be shifted to Taloja Jail in the afternoon.

According to the report in Pinkvilla, a first information report (FIR) was registered against Kelvin Cheung and his father Chi Ping Cheung under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code on the basis of a complaint filed by Ranjit Bindra, co-owner of Bastian. Hindustan Times had reported that as per the police complaint, Kelvin Cheung had been working as a chef at Ranjit Bindra’s office for a long time.

Gajanan Kabdule, senior inspector of Khar police station was quoted saying by Hindustan Times, that while Kelvin worked in the Bandra restaurant, he had offered Ranjit Bindra to invest in his plans to invest in popular restaurant franchises in Chicago and LA with the help of his father. As per the report, Ranjit Bindra had invested USD 200,000 in multiple transactions. The report also stated that Cheung abruptly quit his association with the restaurant in 2019 after saying that his father passed away. Later, Ranjit Bindra’s discussion with Kelvin Cheung about the investments didn’t seem to go well, and Cheung also allegedly started ignoring Bindra.

The senior inspector also said that after Ranjit Bindra learned that Kelvin has returned to India, he approached the police and registered a complaint in hopes of getting his money back. Now, Pinkvilla reported that after all verifications and investigation, Mumbai Police has arrested Kelvin Cheung.
