Brahmastra 2: Alia Bhatt-Ranbir Kapoor Starrer Sequel To Release In 2025, Reveals Ayan Mukerji- Deets INSIDE
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’ opened to mixed reviews. As per trade analysts, the fantasy drama is flying high at the box office and minted over Rs. 143 crores in India. Ayan Mukerji’s Astraverse trilogy ended with the announcement of its sequel ‘Brahmastra 2’ and the filmmaker has now revealed its release date. In a new interview, Ayan spoke about the film’s second installment and stated that he is targeting December 2025.

Speaking to Indian Express, the ace filmmaker mentioned that Brahmastra 2 will narrate Dev’s backstory and will also continue the present-day timeline. The sequel will revolve around Dev switching between the past and the present and how he would impact the universe. Talking about its release, Ayan Mukerji explained that although they have a target to release the second part in three years, it seems difficult considering the time the first part took.

He was quoted saying, “We have our target. We would like to make this film and have it come out three years from now. It is a tough timeline for us considering how much time part one took. But now we have also learnt how to make these kinds of films.” ALSO READ: Bramhastra MOVIE REVIEW: Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt Starrer Is Potentially An Epic Actioner; But, Screenplay Could Have Been Better!

Reportedly, the first part took 5 years to complete because of heavy VFX. Ayan further revealed that the script of Brahmastra 2 is ready and has already gone through the process of rewrites and revisions to ensure it’s top-notch.

“Part two script has been on since the time we started part one. This was always one story. The thread is ready. We have already put in a lot of work into part two. We have written and rewritten because we had time, COVID had happened. There have been many months of part two work. We already have a lot of stuff on part two. But of course, I will look at it once part one is settled,” Ayan added.

Since Brahmastra 2 will be humungous, its pre-production, VFX, and post-production phases would be quite long. Meanwhile, the first part also starred megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and South superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni. The first installment of a planned trilogy titled Astraverse was released on 9 September 2022.
