From the past two days, Deepika Padukone is continuously trending on Twitter for displaying her support for JNU students after the recently-held mob attacks in the educational premise. A lot of people have been demanding a ban on her film Chhapaak, while others have planned on boycotting it. Well, as if that wasn’t enough, Chhapaak has now landed in yet another controversy, thanks to the real-life acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal’s lawyer Aparna Bhatt. As per a report in ANI, she has filed a plea in Delhi’s Patiala House Court.
As per Aparna Bhatt, the makers of Chhapaak have failed to give her due credit for her contribution to Laxmi Agarwal’s journey to justice. Aparna claims being Laxmi’s lawyer for years and still she hasn’t been mentioned in the film. “Lawyer Aparna Bhatt files plea in Delhi's Patiala House Court seeking stay on film #Chhapaak. Meanwhile, a celebrity screening for Chhapaak was held last night and it was graced by the who’s who of Bollywood. A lot of them, including Riteish Deshmukh, Yami Gautam, Bhumi Pednekar and Neil Nitin Mukesh among others, hailed Deepika Padukone for her remarkable performance in the film. SpotboyE’s editor Vickey Lalwani, too, got the opportunity to catch the film last night and he has given in 3.5 stars.
An excerpt from our review reads, “Vikrant Massey is fine- neat and sincere. Cast perfectly. I liked the way Deepika finally ends his frustrations to tell him that she loves him but silently. Watch her in that scene, you just don't want it to end.” Read the full review here.
