Chhapaak: Deepika Padukone Starrer Gets Into A Legal Trouble; Writer Files A Case For Copyright Violation
Almost after two years, Deepika Padukone is all set to return to the silver screen with Meghna Gulzar’s much-anticipated film, Chhapaak, co-starring Vikrant Massey. As less then a week is left for the release of the film, the film and the filmmakers have landed in legal trouble. The film, which is said to be loosely based on the real-life story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal has been accused of copyright violation. According to the latest reports, a man named Rakesh Bharti has filed a copyright violation complaint again Deepika Padukone, who’s the producer of the film and also the director Meghna Gulzar at the Metropolitan Magistrate court.

Bharti has accused the makers of stealing his script. He states that the film is based on a script that was penned by him. In his complaint, Bharti stated that he along with his son has planned to produce the film, which was then titled Black Day. The complainant assures that his script too was based on the acid attack survivor and had approached Fox Star Studios, Ka Production, and Mriga Films, who all are involved in Chhapaak, to back his project. He seeks for criminal action against the proposed accused. (ALSO READ: Deepika Padukone Ticks Boxes In A TOUGH RAPID FIRE On Ranveer, Ranbir, Alia, Priyanka, Salman, SRK, Aamir, Irrfan- EXCLUSIVE)

Later, Rakesh alleged that all these production houses were already making a separate film on the same subject. Bharti has claimed that these producers have done cosmetic changes in his script and made the film Chhapaak. Rakesh Bharti’s complaint further states that he even approached actors, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut to star in the film.
Let us wait for the makers to send out an official statement about this latest controversy revolving around the film.
