Chhapaak: Deepika Padukone Starrer Runs Into Legal Trouble; Writer Approaches Bombay High Court Demanding Credit

A writer recently approached the Bombay High Court to seek credits for a similar story he penned and pitched to Fox Star Studios, who are the production might behind Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak. The writer has sought a stay on the film's release until due credit is given to him – claims a report

Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey’s Chhapaak trailer was one of the most impressive trailers of this year. The film which is all set to hit the big screens has recently run into legal trouble. Well, according to a Mumbai Mirror report, Meghna Gulzar’s directorial found itself in legal trouble when a writer slapped a lawsuit on the makers demanding credits in the film. It has also been reported that the suit filed by Bharti (the writer) claims that he was the one who conceived the idea/script for a movie which was tentatively titled 'Black Day' and his story was also on the plot acid attack survivor. In fact, the portal further stated that he even registered his story with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association (IMPPA) in February 2015.

Bharti also narrated his story to many production houses including Fox Star Productions which is also Chhapaak’s production house. It is reported that the writer narrated the script to the film’s production house and when he came to know about this film is in the making, however, when he raised his concern for duplication to the makers of the film and didn’t receive any response from them, he then decided to approach the high court with a plea in order to seek credits as one of the writers in the film. The plea said in the portal, “However, the project could not commence due to unavoidable circumstances. The plaintiff had narrated the idea to Fox Star Studio, which is the production house for Chhapaak." That’s not it, the film's release will stay until due credit is given to him. Nevertheless, it is said the plea will be heard by a vacation bench of the high the court on December 27.
