Chhapaak: Delhi Court Restrains Film's Release Post January 15, Orders Makers To Give Credit To The Lawyer
Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak based on the life of acid-attack survivour Laxmi Agarwal has made it to the theatres. However, problems are far from over. After people planning to boycott the film post Deepika's visit to JNU campus, Chhapaak got into another controversy when Laxmi Agarwal's lawyer Aparna Bhat filed a petition asking for a stay on the film's release. This because the makers failed to acknowledge her work and give credit to her in the film. Delhi's Patiala Court though gave a clean chit to the makers to release the film and ordered them to give credit to Aparna, it is Delhi High Court now that has restrained film's release.

As per news agency ANI, Delhi's High Court has restrained the film's release post January 15 if the makers fail to give credit to Aparna Bhat. The production house Fox Studio had challenged Patiala Court's order in High Court and now the verdict is out. ANI tweets, "Delhi High Court restrains from releasing of film 'Chhapaak' without giving credit to lawyer Aparna Bhat, who represented survivor Lakshmi in her legal battle. The restraint will be effective from January 15 for multiplexes and live streaming and for others from January 17."  (Also Read: Bigg Boss 13 Weekend Ka Vaar: Deepika Padukone Enters BB House To Promote ‘Chhapaak’; Leaves With Task Winners)

Chhapaak that has already made it to the theatres has received good reviews from all corners. Deepika's performance is being appreciated by all, however, the makers still have this issue to deal with. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and has Vikran Massey playing a pivotal role alongside Deepika Padukone. For more updates, stay tuned.
