Complaint Filed Against Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar For Portraying Women In An Objectionable Manner In His latest Marathi Film-Report
Legal troubles seem to be mounting for director Mahesh Manjrekar. A complaint has reportedly been filed against him in a court on Thursday for allegedly portraying women and children in an objectionable manner in his latest Marathi film ‘Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Koncha.’ According to reports, the Kshatriya Maratha Seva Sanstha has lodged a complaint before the Bandra metropolitan magistrate court under sections 292 (sale etc of obscene content), 295 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public), 34 (common intention) of the IPC and Indecent Representation of the Women Prohibition Act, seeking action against the director.

Besides Mahesh, the complaint has also been filed against the producers of the film, Narendra and Shreyans Hirawat, and NH Studioz. The complaint, which is filed through advocate D V Saroj, claimed that the Marathi film was released in cinema halls and OTT platforms on January 14 and it showed “sexually explicit content depicting women and children in highly objectionable ways.”

As per the complainant, the movie, which stars Prem Dharmadhikari, Chhaya Kadam, Shashank Shende, and Kashmera Shah, featured the content that has caused disharmony in the society, leading to protests throughout Maharashtra. The matter will reportedly be heard in this case on February 28.

This is not the first time when the objection against the film has been raised. Earlier, The National Commission for Women (NCW) had expressed displeasure and disappointment over the trailer of ‘Nay Varan Bhat Loncha Kon Koncha.’ The commission received a complaint from an organization in Maharashtra over the trailer of the film. NCW chief Rekha Sharma wrote a letter to the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging to censor the bold and sexually explicit scenes in the film.
