Amid the deadly Coronavirus pandemic scare, the filmmakers across the globe have been pushing the release dates of their upcoming films ahead and have been asking their fans to stay safe. A day back, Rohit Shetty made an announcement of his upcoming film Sooryavanshi being postponed following the COVID-19 scare. Following the tradition, this Friday Irrfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's much-awaited film Angrezi Medium hit the screens. But on the same day, for the safety concerns of Mumbaikars, Mumbai CM Uddhav Thackeray requested all to avoid public gatherings hence affecting theaters too. Though throughout India many states have ordered cinema halls to be shut amid the Coronavirus.
Since the theaters are closed from midnight, the makers of Angrezi Medium decided upon re-releasing the film. Taking to his Insta story, the Angrezi Medium producer Homi Adajania announced that the film will be re-released when it will be safe to do so. His Insta story read, “At midnight all theaters will be close across India till authorities give us further notice. We will re-release #AngreziMedium when it is safe to do so. Till then stay safe and be kind to each other. #johaisohai.”
SpotboyE Editor Vickey Lalwani watched the film and rated it with 3 stars. His review read, “Irrfan is excellent, it is so commendable that he has given such an energetic performance after being struck with a serious illness. The track between Kareena and Dimple Kapadia is superb. Deepak Dobriyal, Ranvir Shorey and Pankaj Tripathi are fab.”
