Before unveiling John Abraham’s portrait from this year’s calendar of his, photographer Dabboo Ratnani shares the story behind it
For the first time in it’s 22 years of existence, Dabboo Ratnani’s annual Bollywood calendar has had a virtual launch. For a few weeks now, the photographer has been dropping the breath-taking stills from this year’s calendar, along with some fun behind the scenes bonus material. To make up for the star-studded launch party that Dabboo has each year for the calendar’s launch, the photographer has been having Insta live sessions with the stars of this year’s edition.
Till now, Dabboo has released the stills of Vicky Kaushal, Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sunny Leone, Tara Sutaria, Vijay Deverakonda, Saif Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Kiara Advani, Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh from this year’s calendar.
Daboo has shared some behind the scenes photos and videos from his shoot with John Abraham but he is yet to release his portrait from the 2021 edition. Although in an exclusive chat with Spotboye.com, he reveals the story behind it. “John was shooting in Lucknow when I was planning this year’s calendar. I just messaged him to plan something interesting. In a few minutes he messaged me that he was in Lucknow and had some time and called me there,” he shares.
And just like that, Dabboo flew in there a day and a half later to complete the shoot. “Sometimes it's just meant to be. We were planning to shoot his portrait in black and white, but when we saw it in colour, we couldn’t not use it. It was actually the first shot we did for this year’s calendar,” he concludes.
