Deepika Fights Back

An ‘OMG’ and an exclamation mark can make anything scandalous and if you attach a famous name to it then youve got the eyeballs.

OMG! Shah Rukh Khan wears shoes!

Priyanka Chopra trims split ends! OMG!

OMG is an Akshay Kumar film!

See, a perfect recipe. Which is exactly what the leading daily aimed at doing when they tweeted a link with the caption OMG! Deepika Padukones cleavage show! But instead of grabbing eyeballs, the news conglomerate was grabbed by the collar and shook hard.

Deepika, Bollywoods darling, did not take this too lightly. She hit back with a backhand so hard, it really stung. One of her tweets read: YES! I am a Woman. I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??

Now, thats great use of punctuation, if you ask us.

On one side of the table we talk about women-centric films breaking thorough stereotypes and about heroines grabbing a larger piece of the filmy pie but we also slide down to the narrow-minded end of table and use titillation to create news.

But why? Deepika has been flooding our news sources with Finding Fanny and soon Happy New Year. How is it even news to rake up a year old footage and throw it our face as, “look, a different side to Deepika”?

But just when you thought the news organisation could redeem themselves, they got back with a: @deepikapadukone , Its a compliment! You look so great that we want to make sure everyone knew! :)

Seriously, its like an inexperienced college-going intern is handling their timeline.

This faux pas comes on the heels of the Hollywood nude photo leak scandal which begs the question are these powerful names just easy targets? If so, then why must they be?

Deepika, weve loved seeing your evolution as an actor. And if anyone tries to act funny, we know youve got a ready answer for them. And just for that we love you. More power to you, girl.
