As the Indian Premier League is considered a cash cow by many business tycoons and eligible entrepreneurs, everyone wants to try their hands at it. With the news of IPL planning to expand the teams from 8 to 10 as per reports Bollywood’s star couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are said to be bidding for it. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is looking for keen buyers for these teams, has caught DeepVeer’s attention.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are included in the list of 20 other buyers also bidding for these teams. As reported in Outlook, the latest bidding will end up the star couple owning a team in a popular tournament along with Man United. The winning bid for these teams can go anywhere from $375 to $425 million per team with a license of 10 years to play at this much-loved tournament. Followed by the BCCI minting a big moolah in between 3000-3500 Crores per team, now that’s Big Money!

Owner of Manchester United, the American Glazer family, a Pharma giant, Adani Group and the RP-Sanjeev Goenka Groups will also bid for the new teams.


As quoted by Outlook, a top official of this bidding process said, “The Adani Group and the RP-Sanjeev Goenka Groups are no more the ‘favourites’ to walk away with the new teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India extended the deadline of Invitation to Tender issued by Governing Council of IPL from October 10, 2021, to October 20, 2021.

The report adds, “The BCCI is not keen to give the rights to an off-shore company and will prefer Indian buyers but power equations can change the script dramatically. Among those who have picked up bids, documents are pharma companies like Torrent Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma. A Singapore-based private equity firm and US-based venture capitalists have also shown interest. Naveen Jindal (Jindal Power and Steel) and entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala are also keen.”

Already associated with the IPL tournament from Bollywood is Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla who co-own, Kolkata Knight Riders. Preity Zinta has some stakes in Punjab Kings.
