Deepika Padukone Shares Her Take On Pathaan Controversy; Reveals She Doesn’t ‘Know Any Other Way’ Rather Than Staying Calm
Deepika Padukone opened up about why she and Shah Rukh Khan kept their calm during the controversies their movie Pathaan faced
Siddharth Anand directorial Pathaan has been scaling new heights every day. Even after a month of its release, the movie is still minting business globally. However, the movie had been in hot water with the political parties of certain ideologies for not only the name of the film, glorifying Pakistan but also because of Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini. Well amidst all the death threats, vandalism of posters in theatres, the leads of the movie decided it was in their best interest to not comment on anything.
Now in a recent interview with India Today, Deepika has opened up about why she and Shah Rukh Khan had chosen to stay calm during the chaos. She expressed that both of them were people who value commitment, hard work and humility above everything else. Coming from sports backgrounds they have learnt a lot about restraint. ALSO READ: WHAT! She told the media publication, “I can say this for both of us that we don’t know any other way of being. I think that’s just who we are as people and the way we have been brought up by our respective families. We came here (to Mumbai) alone with just dreams and aspirations. All we know is commitment, hard work and humility, and it has gotten us where we are. Some of it (handling adversity) comes with experience and maturity. We both have been athletes. I do know that he played sports in school and college. Sport teaches you a lot about restraint.”
There had been a lot of speculation regarding why SRK, Deepika and John Abraham refused to speak on the movie prior to the release. When a video of the latter dodging questions about Pathaan at a promotional event went viral, it was reported that John was unhappy with the movie. Shedding light on the same, the actor had taken to his Instagram story. ALSO READ: WHAT! He had written, “In my years in cinema, this moment, right here... right now, is a special one. It's amazing that you have showered so much love on the trailer of Pathaan. A lot of hard work has been put into making this one. It's a biggie. Adi has always given me some of my best roles & I can't wait for you to see what Siddharth Anand has done with me and the film! I want to say so much about Pathaan but let's all wait for Jan 25th! Get set for an awesome big screen entertainer!! Thank you once again for the overwhelming response to our trailer!!!”
For the unversed, Pathaan marked the comeback of Shah Rukh Khan, on the big screen after five years. With the movie, YRF introduced the audience to its spy universe which consists of Salman Khan’s Tiger, Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
