Not Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone Will Produce And Act In Mahabharat; Will Essay The Role Of Draupadi

After essaying roles like Mastani and Rani Padmavati, actress Deepika Padukone will turn Draupadi on silver screen in the mythological saga Mahabharat. The actress shall produce the film joining hands with Madhu Mantena. Currently Deepika-Madhu are in search of a director to helm the project

There was buzz that Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari are set to bring Mahabarat to the big screen, But before that happens, Deepika Padukone has lapped up an opportunity to not just produce a mythological saga based on Mahabharat, but she will be seen in the movie too. She will be playing Draupadi in the film. One of the GECs showcased Ramayan from female protagonist Sita’s perspective, now Bollywood desires to follow the suit. Yes Folks!  After Mastani and Rani Padmavati’s portrayal in Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat respectively, the actress is trying her hands at playing this iconic character on screen from the Mythological saga, Draupadi. Pushing the envelope furthermore, she is also said to be producing the film as well.

As per reports in Mumbai Mirror elated with excited, the actress was quoted saying, “I’m absolutely thrilled and honored to be essaying the role of Draupadi. I truly believe that is the role of a lifetime.” Also reports further stated of the producer Madhu Mantena joining hands with the diva for this venture. The producer shared that narrating Mahabharat onscreen comes with a huge responsibility as the audience have consumed this mythological saga many times in the past.  But adding a cherry to the cake is Deepika slipping into the role of Draupadi and narrating it. Currently actor-producer duo is in search of an ace director to helm this mammoth like huge project. Just like Brahmastra, makers of Mahabharat too are aiming to release the film in 2-3 parts. According to reports the first part will be possibly unveiled by the makers in 2021 Diwali. 


Prior to Mahabharat, Dippy has produced Chhapaak and 83, marking this Mythological saga third in the row.  While Chhapaak will release in Janaury 2020, 83 will hit the screen in April 2020.
