Delhi HC Defers Salman Khan's Plea Against Kala Hiran Release; Makers Say Film Yet To Be Submitted To CBFC

Actor Salman Khan has not received immediate relief in his legal battle against the makers of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, as the Delhi High Court has deferred the hearing on his plea until July 6 after learning that the film has not yet been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for certification.

The hearing took place before Justice Jyoti Singh, who adjourned the matter after noting that Salman Khan's rejoinder was not yet on record. During the proceedings, the actor's senior counsel urged the court to issue urgent directions, expressing concern that the film could be released before the case is decided. However, counsel representing the filmmakers clarified that the movie has not yet been sent to the CBFC and assured the court that it would not be submitted for certification before the next hearing.

The court observed that no film can be released in India without CBFC certification, making an immediate restraining order unnecessary at this stage. Based on the assurance provided by the producers, the matter was postponed until July 6. The filmmakers also informed the court that neither the film nor its trailer or any other promotional material would be released before the next hearing.

Salman Khan had approached the Delhi High Court last month seeking to restrain the production, promotion, and release of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. According to his plea, the film allegedly draws references to his personality, including the use of a lookalike wearing his signature blue bracelet, and appears to be inspired by the 1998 blackbuck poaching case associated with him. The actor has argued that the project violates his personality rights and could damage his reputation.

Following the hearing, producer Amit Jani reacted publicly, claiming that Salman Khan had not secured any interim relief from the court. He reiterated his confidence that the film would eventually release, even stating that it is planned for a large-scale worldwide release once legal hurdles are cleared.
