Deven Verma Bids Adieu

Veteran actor and comedian Deven Verma passed away this morning at Sahyadri Hospital in Pune this morning. He hadn't been keeping well for a while. He had heart ailments and diabetes which eventually cost him his life. The actor was wheeled into the hospital on Monday evening and was in the ICU when he breathed his last. 

The comedian was 77. He's survived by Rupa Ganguly, late actor Ashok Kumar's daughter. The funeral proceedings will be held at Yerwada. Deven was born in Pune but his destiny drove him to Mumbai where he acted in over 200 films, and even produced a few. His most prominent performances were in films like Angoor, Golmaal, Rang Birangi, Chori Mera Kaam and Chor Ke Ghar Chor. Towards the fag end of his career, he took to smaller character roles in films like Dil To Pagal Hai, Ishq, Kya Kehna, and Calcutta Mail, the latter was his last film as an actor.
