Priyanka Chopra is a global star who has a massive fan following across the globe. She has given some incredible performances from playing Jhimil, a mentally challenged girl in Barfi to playing a murderer in 7 Khoon Maaf to playing a girl next door in What’s Your Raashee? One of her critically acclaimed performances is considered essaying Mrs. Sonia Roy from Aitraaz in 2004. Producer Suneel Darshan, who worked with the actress in one of her early films Andaaz, revealed that the Desi Girl cried when she was offered this role.

Producer Suneel Darshan while speaking to RJ Siddharth Kannan recalled that both the lead actors Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar were apprehensive about doing the film initially. Suneel mentioned that Khiladi Kumar had a problem with finances, while PeeCee was upset and even cried as she was approached for the vamp’s role.

He was quoted saying, “Akshay and Priyanka both were keen not to do the movie. But I used my bonding with them to see that they came in. Akshay had issues with the finances, I said ‘what does a little less or more money matter in a movie, think of the project.’ And Priyanka Chopra, she said she was approached for a vamp’s role and she was so upset, she cried, she went home and she went to sleep.”  The producer further added, “I said after you wake up come back to the office. She was here and I pressed on her about the importance of her doing the role. I thought I drilled it into her head, and yes it was wonderful for them to be in Aitraaz.”

Talking about the film, Aitraaz stars Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The Abbas-Mustan directorial was loosely based on Hollywood film Disclosure. Kumar played Raj Malhotra who is accused of sexual harassment by his ex-girlfriend Sonia Kapoor essayed Priyanka Chopra. Kareena Kapoor who plays Raj’s wife represents him in court and fights his case against Sonia. Eventually, Sonia is proven guilty as she has accused him of false charges. The film was critically acclaimed.

On the work front, the 40-year-old actress will be seen next in Farhan Akhtar’s film Jee Le Zaraa alongside Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.
